If there is one athlete on the UT Martin rifle team who puts up the highest scores of her career in air rifle, it is Victoria Petersen. She led the Owls winning against UAB during the Great American Rifle Conference. In addition, she landed her highest air rifle score of all time.

Although it is hard to affirm this, but this University of Tennessee at Martin rifle team has won both the air rifle and smallbore divisions in the past, they definitely have. A junior Joey Kovach is the leader in both disciplines. He’s scored more marks in the smallbore category than all of the field and set a new all-time high for his air rifle. He was also the third Skyhawk that led the team in total scoring. It’s difficult to achieve this especially when there is so much competition.

UT Martin’s rifle team wrapped the four-day series of tournaments on Morehead State on Saturday. It was a showcase for some of the nation’s top names in air and small bore. They scored 4,671 points, with a huge 4 624 points against Ole Miss. However, the most impressive amount of points scored on the day was the 2,305 points the team scored in the smallbore department. That’s 16 points more than what they earned in the best smallbore contest on the 16th of October.

The University of Tennessee at Martin rifle team might not be well-known in the competitive world, but they are a force to be reckoned with. The season is set to end with JSU Invitational. JSU Invitational, Jacksonville, Ala. November 18-19.

The University of Tennessee at Martin rifle team closed out its season in the fall by putting on an outstanding performance. They not only won their second straight JSU Invitational, they also achieved a season-high mark of 2,317 air rifle point. UT Martin will continue to battle with University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) on the 22nd and 23. Alongside UT Martin, North Georgia and Murray State took part in the event.

UT Martin accumulated 4,567 points all-in, which is a school record. Jesse Chamberlain and Jeffrey Bourassa were among the Skyhawks scoring players. They were all in the air rifle department. All of them achieved career-best scores. Emily Faught was another Skyhawk who excelled in smallbore play setting a school record for the sport. Faught scored a record-breaking 597. She broke the previous record of 585. As a result of her achievements, she won academic All-Big Ten honors and a position as a member of the Tom Osborne Citizenship Team.

Victoria Petersen set new career records in the air rifle section with a score of 581 in the match against UAB. It was her first time at the tournament, and she competed on an unison team along with Abigail Donald. Alayna Walther, Rachel Sprague and Rachel Sprague have all set new records for the section with the smallest bore. Their 569 and 569 points respectively, placed them on the sixth and fifth slots.

NC State’s Skyhawks are seventh in the Great American Rifle Conference

The NC State rifle team was 7th in the Great American Rifle Conference Championships and scored a whopping 4667 points. The Wolfpack also placed in the top three in smallbore with junior John Peterson leading the way by scoring 581 points. The air rifle was also a impressive success. Senior Addy Burrow won the first day’s tournament with 590 marks. This was the Skyhawks team’s first time having a member of their team shoot a gold medal.

NC State ended its year with eight victories, which was an NCAA record. Also, it broke a 45-game losing streak in the road and established new records. It finished the year with four wins on the road that was higher than in any previous year. School records of seven Conference wins was also set.

During the signing period, the Skyhawks were able to sign 32 commitments. They were also able to sign one quarterback, five linebackers, five wide receivers as well as three tight end. This was the first time in the history of the program had received such a large number of freshmen who were enrolled. 6 offensive linemen had been chosen and four defensive linemen and three running backs. The Skyhawks had a strong lineup.
